What a fine day...

At the home in Jurong East, I always enjoy looking out my windows and also along the corridors to the lobby. Because the awe of the scenic view from the north to the east can be attractive at times.

Today's a cloudless morning at west side area of Singapore. The dawning sunlight nicely silhouettes the Bukit Timah hill, Bukit Gombak hill, the Choa Chu Kang and the Bukit Batok estates. The natural sunlight blends the man-made cityscape and the natural scape covered by a thin, soft mist, made both into one range on the horizon. Beautiful. I can't tell you how thankful I am to have such a view beside my house and my room.

In the central area of the urban city of Singapore, the rush hours made the people move non-stop. Such a gridlock lifestyle of the mass transit, which I'm pretty sick of. The weather goes for the same in the high-density business district. The sunlight peeks through the in-betweens of towers and building, highlighting parts of the roads, streets and people on the move.

I really hoped I had had a digital camera to lock today's amazing sights for you all to see.

Maybe today isn't such a "dark" day after all...

Did it, Darn that.

Ah... Finally I finish the first half "dark" side of the third phase ...

The first half "dark" side was done as well as darn, damn and shit using up to 3 to 4 hours.

Tomorrow will the second half "dark" side of the third phase. One of the major hellish task was to do around up to 20 rollover buttons, each with mouse-over, mouse-down and mouse-up graphics. By some calculalations, that's 20 x 3 = 60 individual graphics. Their text, colour and quality have to syncronise.

Music revolves around the Earth and me...

New day, the Earth rotates a round. I've been hearing a music in my MP3 player lately.
I like it very much, the theme music with the drama series. Though the series, Chemistry, was long finished, the only regret is missing the final episode (argh).

Here's the Lyrics.

Should I Stay
By Dreamz FM

Had a drive
Driven by your love
But when you messed around
I lost the drive I found

Thought you needed
Needed someone true
But you changed your mind
Or had I failed you?

Wish you’d been
Careful with my heart
But you tore it apart
And broke an angel’s heart

The kiss was true
Has to end somehow
But I am livin’ proof of what love is about

It’s hard holding you
Loving you, losing you
It’s sad to be true
And be fooled by you
I don’t know (I don’t know)
I gotta know
Should I stay or should I go?

You played me on
Played me like a clown
But I feel for you
Eventhough I’m down

My heart is heavy
Heavy like a rock
But I am so amused
You’re still in my thoughts

It’s hard holding you
Loving you, losing you
It’s sad to be true
And be fooled by you
I don’t know (I don’t know)
I gotta know
Should I stay or should I go?

Oooohh…should I stay?
Should I go?

It’s hard holding you
Loving you, losing you
It’s sad to be true
And be fooled by you
I don’t know (I don’t know)
I wanna know
Should I stay or should I…?

This time its done
It’ll never feel the same
But we had some good times
Guess it’s sad just the same

I guess the truth
Doesn’t matter somehow
But you were livin’ proof of what love is about…

Good times, bad times...

Today, the bosses are not here for about two days I think. They went to Vietnam to deliver the Vietnam package and do a roadshow over there.

Although still gotta work, the stress isn't really there without the bosses around. Many colleagues were playing little games while working. I was playing Little Fighter and also Yahoo! Pool with my fellow interns from TP, Chin Leong and Mei Fang.

I manage to finished editing all Thai traslation which totally looked like an alien language to me.I was still complaining to Shian over the ICQ about my work due to unfamiliarity with it. Initially in the morning, the holy "F" words and other vulgarities came out of my mouth when I was working with it (don't worry, I didn't shout them out loud). After a nice lunch at Bras Brasah Complex Foodcourt, I got use to the work and smoothly it goes and ends the second phase of the work. Tomorrow will be the ugly third phase...

Rewards.

Hmm... Nothing to do after lunch and also had dessert of Cornetto cone coffee ice-cream rewarded by Linda.

Still waiting for PeiPei to download stuff to the server to let me work on the task.

Anyway, I'm $100 richer. No, no, no. Not because I worked for the weekend. My mum struck 4D lottery for second prize number, 0293.
Why I get $100 from her lottery? It was because the four digits are the exact last four numbers of my handphone number.

That was lucky! : p

"Kim zhuah" confetti.

Pretty relaxing morning.

I was cutting confetti all this morning. My fellow interns from TP, called it "kim zhuah" (refers joss paper, because it was it silver or gold). Now the place I'm working is in a mess of "kim zhuah".

Those "kim zhuah" is going to be use for launch of a CD-ROM product or something. Those "kim zhuah" was to be thrown at the client and his wife. The wife is a Hong Konger, I heard. Throwing those "kim zhuah" meant for good luck, ironically. Ha ha ha!

I try to be poetic.

Quotes of the Day:
A Day to Bugis

"As I set sail to my journey to the East,
I was given the luke warmth of the Solar Star.
As I paced pass noisy bargainers of goods,
the field of green danced with the Wind.

Soon I joined the people of the morning rush,
I entered the dragon with a hush.
As the dragon flew and stop and stop,
more city-makers crowded his guts.

Accompanied by the favourite music,
the dragon flew pass the familiar blocks.
Finally the dragon burrowed into the darkest underground,
roaring through the tunnels.

I arrived and dropped off the dragon,
going with the flow of people.
I came out of the tunnel and there,
the great sight of the five fingers holding the glory of the sun.

I enter the quiet, new yet old streets of five-foot ways,
under the cover the sky of glasses.
As I walked, I watched.
there silent history boards marks the place's heritage.

I entered a racing street of trotting horses.
The horses halted when the torch of red signalled.
I walk pass them quickly,
as the green man hurrys me.

Finally I reached the place,
the place I've called 'home' for only 15 days...
And the gates of 'home' was damn-shut.
They haven't open the office doors yet."

Complaining...

Haiz... Been too busy yesterday! Now I have to type my Blog today.

It is kind of sick to talk about work even on weekends! Yes, I'm working this weekend again. Although I'm money-faced, I'm just like any basic Sim (If you ever played the PC game, The Sims, you'll know). A Sim who wants the balance of everything, like social interaction with friends and family! But in Singapore, no money, cannot go any where! Now, I'm pretty living like a Sim out of balance.

For my consolation, I earned $100 over-time pay this weekend : p

Relaxing like Snoopy.

Finally, my day was going to end...

I was pretty much slacking lazily in the morning till after lunch...

I was having a peaceful time with Snoopy this morning...

But for tomorrow, I have a big job task at hand and I have to come back to office tomorrow to finish it. Well, the job task is easy but it have a large quantity to work on.

I'm the Lord of the Rings.

Just before I head home to the La La Land in Middle-Earth, away from the "Mordor". Let me give a quotation of the end of the day.

Quotation of the End of the Day:

"These are the Master-Rings, the Two Rings to see them all.
These are the Two Rings found on me many days and nights before,
due to the great weakening of Eiizumi's eyes.
Now, I greatly hate to have it again,
- I must NOT get it"

Adapted from quotation from "The Lord of the Rings".

Too little sleep makes me feel like eating bamboo shoots.

Lunch-time.

I had a nice lunch.

Ah... Just came back from a nice, one hour lunch.

Wong, Gariet, Eric and I went to the Banquet foodcourt at Raffles Hospital. The food there was very much nicer than the one of Shaw Tower and cheaper than Bugis Junction.

After lunch, we went to the coffee house also in the Raffles Hospital where the traditional coffee and toasted loti with kaya-butter was marvellous.

I wondered how could I miss that when I was shooting my disastrous short film "Eat Money" with the gang of friends at Kampong Glam for a school project, which is also near Raffles Hospital.

The Muppet Show.

You just can't get the same muppet just by using clay.

I finally finished my Thai WatchOut thingy.

Been slacking for about an hour now.

Just now, I went to the normally, empty office room at the 4th level at the other side of the building (the commercial building is small, our main office is bigger and is at the 5 level). They preparing the weird muppet for a green screen effects shoot. They are trying very hard to make the muppet movements that of Jim Henson's standard. But I think they should try and make a better muppet as it simply looks idiotic and very unprofessional as seen from the muppet's low quality materials. It looks very home-made. Even the muppets from the TV show "Greg the Bunny" is better.

Worried wart.

Hmm... The 11th day in the office (including the weekend).

I just realised I was eccentrically quiet to communicate with my other colleagues yesterday. That's my self but I just been quite a worried wart to worry about some work I've made, just hate to correct them. My worry syndrome is back after these 6 months. Although all I have to do is to change the mistakes correctly, I still worried through out my lunch sessions with my colleagues.

I have continue the Thai disasterous work I've did yesterday...

Time count, work count and men count.

A new day... but now everyday seems to be the same...

I was doing some simple sound editing of the wave files using the SoundEdit application, which works similarly like WaveLab or SoundForge applications. I started doing it from about 10 am till about 11pm plus. All I had to do is to cut the wave file, which is actually a voice-over's speech into appropriate lengths and save them individually into wave format. These files are later inserted into Director movie.

Argh... My colleague PeiPei just assigned me a job. Just like the one yesterday. This time is in Thai language...
Arghhhhhhhhhh!!!!! This is gonna be a long day...

(+ . +)'''

Ok, before I start my work later. Let me recall some of my colleagues' names whom I remember their faces matching to their names, so far...

They are Mei Fang, Leong, Wong, Gariet, Sidik, PeiPei, Jason, Jacqueline, Kernis, Nur, Bernard, David, Michelle, Linda, Yvonne, Shahid, Keith, Aida, Eric, Diana, Dennis, Jeffrey (The Small Boss, 35% sharehold) and Donald (The Big Boss, The Managing Director, 65% sharehold).

Number of Remembered Colleagues: 20
Number of Not Remembered Colleagues: ? 3 ?

All names remembered updated at
9.10am, Thursday, 24th July 2003.

Celebrate!

Finally, I've completed my part of the work. I'm ready to go home!

Hmm...

Looks like I still need two more hours to finish my work and go home...

I'm currently copying translated Vietnamnese language into Photoshop and save it as PICT files (yes... again...). X p

After I finish saving it into PICT files, I'll need to put those files in Watchout application which is actually lworks ike the Macromedia Director and the Adobe After-Effects. It have a cast list and the score, but its more like composition of the After-Effects. The animation was already completed in English by the Arts Director but I have to make Vietnamnese PICT files for it and then put it in, replace or switch cast members. The video I'm doing now, have a very wide resolution. They have to use 3 monitors for it to see it all. I guess it is about the width of 2 and a half monitors.

I hope I can work till about 10pm or 12am. To get my taxi money or over-time pay respectively... hehhehheh...

But meanwhile (*sigh*), I'm very sick of the task I am doing...

UFOs and chiong for work

Hmm... Tuesday morning now. I overslept today for about 30 minutes, over the time I was supposed to wake up. I managed to brush my teeth, wash my face and hair within 10 minutes. Then make and drink some coffee, wear my clothes and shoes within another 10 minutes. I speed walk for the next 15 minutes to reach the Chinese Garden MRT station.

I just managed to reach Bugis MRT station within another 35 minutes and reach my office by 9 am.

*phew*!

Yesterday night was my longest duration of sleep since my internship started. 8 hours, including the time I've overslept. I managed to "wake up" along the way while I'm in the MRT train.

Hmm... Looks like I always didn't have the time to type my Blog of my day on the day itself, again.

Yesterday was a well-balanced day, I think. The balance of slack time and passive work. And off work at the standard time 6pm.

From then on, I took a MRT train to Boon Lay within 45 minutes to meet up with Joseph, Kent and Jeslyn. We ate and talk about our internship events at the Mos Burger in Jurong Point.

While we finished our food, we sat there and chat. While we were chatting, I was place with the coffee milk pack and accidentally sprayed a few drop of milk onto two girls on the other table. I immediately apologised and Kent laughed. Then, it was Kent's turn. he accidentally catapault his coffee stirrer from his cup, flying to the same table where the same people were eating on the table next to us.
He apologised to them and then we start to keep clear of our hands from touching anything on our table.

Brain spoiling.

Aw... today, a new day, but I have been the office every morning, 8 days in a row now.

Yesterday, was Sunday. Though normally a resting day, I was still back at the office. I didn't really lament it much. I just didn't think much about it. At least I have $100 pay pending to be mine. I was doing the same thing like that of Saturday doing alpha channels for Bahasa Malaysia's text formatted into PICT files. I have to do about 100 plus layers. Here are the following steps:

1) Copy and paste Bahasa Malaysia text, into a text box layer in Photoshop.
2) Set all appropriate character characteristics and make sure the selected layer is the only visible layer.
3) Rasterise.
4) Control and left-click on the selected layer, to select with marquee of the text's perimeter.
5) Go channels tab and delete old alpha layer and create new alpha layer for the selected layer only.

Now, seems pretty easy but its all quantity work.

What I did was simply make each step as a phase level and apply it to all layers first.
Or else my brain would have to concentrate on changing each step of the procedure which will kill alot of brain cells, especially for guys (males). As our brains can only concentrate on one thing at a time, and we do that very well. Gals (females) have no such problem as their brains are build for multi-tasking.

Just now, I was figgeting with online tutorials access on the www.digital-tutors.com, trying to learn Adobe After Effects as I'm free now. But I can't access it properly using my unique "Eiizumi" username. Change password, re-activate account and do this and that, yet all has failed. So I had to make a new one again as "Eii2umi" username.

Although you'll say that's really nothing to fuss about, just make a new one. But I'm really fussy about names and stuff like that. Why? Remember one username wastes less brain cells. That may sound stupid, but I realise my brain could be deteriorating from aging.

Bad lunch and Good dinner.

Today, I arrived in the office at around 10am just like yesterday. And like yesterday no colleagues to allocate work. Only the video guy, Bernard is here. Maybe I have to slack 2 to 3 hours again to wait for them to come. The rest of the interns are also not here yet. I should remember to ask my colleague-supervisors what time to come next time...

Yesterday, I finally started some tasks at about 2.30pm. With no lunch, I manage to copy and paste all the Vietname subtitles into 58 layers and rasterise them before going to lunch with Leong, Mei Fang, Wong, Gariet and Linda to eat out.

We recce alot of places, where to eat. But considering we have Sidik, who is an Indian Muslim, in the end we ended eating at the foodcourt at Shaw Tower.

It was the worst lunch I had.

I ordered a bowl of Curry Chicken noodles, but it ended up as a bowl of Bak Kut Teh Chicken noodles with lots of pepper. The chicken wings's meat was hard to be eaten in a bowl using chopsticks. In the end, I managed to finished the noodles and one Bak. I'll never go that stall again. Not only because the food sucks. The auntie was also a fucked-up woman who had no commitment to serve good food for her customers. The food was simply mixed, even worse than the standards of a primary school canteen stall.

After lunch, I finished all my alpha channel layers and convert them to PICT files. After that I went off work at around 6pm and went dinner with Chee Wee and his gang at the Fish & Co Restaurant. We waited about an hour for the seats, before settling outside, with no air-condition, ordering my nice Grilled Salmon with rice to make up for my lousy lunch. I had a great dinner. we celebrated birthdays of four persons, borned in the month of July. The birthday guys are Chee Wee, Thomas and Bryan and the birthday girl is Thomas's girlfrend. I was already aquainted with most of Chee Wee's friends. Let me introduce, they are:

Jun Long - the guy who is schoolless and is not so ready to head NS-BMT on Pulau Tekong chalets. He now leads a pretty boring lifestyle with his PC games and comics. And he is always late! He likes to see and comment on prettys gals very much.

Hong Yun, Thomas - Always lucky in red, just like his Chinese name. Macho and nice guy. Been out with him first at Illusions bar, other few times with him on beach outings on Sentosa's Siloso beach and also on the Costa Sands chalet at the East Coast. He have a girlfriend whom I met first time at the chalet.

Thomas's girlfriend (I forgotten her name) - Jolly girl, sometimes always sees her on her handphone. The only dealings I have with her was monetary. It is either I owe her money or she owes me. Now, I owe her $2.10. Just making a record here to remember.

Bryan - A soft-spoken person. He's the first aquainted person of the Chee Wee's gang. We start off with LAN gaming sessions at Ginza Plaza.

Alvin - A guy I met yesterday but I think I met him before already but it is just that I don't have a really deep impression on him. He ordered a Coriander Dunno Wat Fish. He was dissapointed and laments that the serving is small and the coriander sucks. He waited for left overs of Thomas's girl and Chee Wee because their servings is very big and Alvin was still hungry after having his own.

Jia Yi (Nicknamed, Ikea) - She came at a very late time, probably shopping and buying presents for Chee Wee and Thomas. She is a very beautiful woman with a sweet face and a nice figure. Believe me, one of the most beautiful gals you ever seen, you'll say you fall in love with. But definitely not me (Sorry, but I'm inferior). Why I say she's a woman. She has very mature thinkings. I saw her before at City Hall MRT station and a birthday BBQ of Chee Wee's I think. There was a few times she was invited to the beach outings during the holidays, but she didn't come. I guess she was protective of herself as she knew guys always looked at gals like a piece of meat on sale.

The other two guys - I don't think I met them before. They were all was late for the dinner. One just came from the National Day Parade rehersal. And the other one don't know from where. Never knew their names.

My apologies for any errors in spelling of names as I'm not sure.

Morning Surf the Slack.

The day begins...

At 10am, I arrived at the office and only saw one colleague. His name is David.

Now, I'm currently surfing the web, doing no task work, for the last 45 minutes.

Tasks.

Well, I just finished two tasks alocated by Jason at 10am this morning.

Task 1: Insert JPEG graphic images I exported from Keynotes presentation, compiled into a PowerPoint presentation. 75 images, each image inserted into one of 75 slides. Very sian. This is like what I did in SP also.

Task 2: Get a presentation movie of a speaker speaking about scientific research on milk. Record the SMTPE time of keyframe of the speaker's slides in the movie clip on the QuickTime Player. I had to fast-forward the movie to listen less of the speaker's craps.

LO tea-break and Pay-talk.

At 3pm, Sidik and I had our tea-break meeting with Mr Daryl Lim. It was very interesting to hear from him that Singapore Polytechnic (SP) is in deep disciplinary code of security. All students are now enforced to wear lanyards or be fined $5. Worst still, all lectures are warned to catch any students to catch students who violate the lanyard rule or be fined themselves! Even the SP principal is on the patrol of catching lecturers who does not catch any students because the latter noticed lecturers were also not very disciplined themselves because they came in late to work. So I realised not to blame the school's management, lecturers and other staff so much because they also got their own pains and problems.

For this week's Saturday and Sunday, I'll be back to the office for work because some colleagues were rushing their assignments for a roadshow at Vietnam I think. They'll catch a plane on Monday. Although I lost my weekend to rest, I'll still have my over-time pay of $50 flat fee for working at least 4 hours after office working hours. Sounds like a good deal of at least $12.50 per hour maximum for 4 hours. Of course I do not work exactly 4 hours, there'll be more work to time, but still a good deal.

LAN, LO and OS.

Yesterday just before 6 pm off work time, I was called for a task which took me about 50 minutes to complete. Wah lau eh! Morning no work wanna off work already then call me do... If not, I would have go Ginza Plaza and go LAN gaming with Chee Wee...

This morning I was doing the rest of the work continued from yesterday. Editing of presentation slides of the Keynotes. Keynotes is some what like a PowerPoint but more features which makes your slides looks more nice. But it is some what slower because its objects is not very versatile to move and edit like PowerPoint. The presentation then is exported as a QuickTime movie. From there I copied the individual frames and paste it to be saved on Photoshop as JPEGs.

At school or home, I use PCs of Windows Operating Systems, but here I'm using Macintosh G3 machines. I managed to learned it after about two days and is now relatively and professionally oriented on its interface and Operating System.

Now, I have finished my lunch and is waiting to see my Liaison Officer, Mr Daryl Lim, who will come at around 3pm.

Wednesday, July 16, 2003

Marquee.

Finally, just got a task to work on about an hour ago. Displacement of people from group photos. Damn hard to select using the marquee and the mask tools. I just finished it.

Talking cock at Coffee-shop.

Just have my two hours lunch (extra one hour talk cock). Again we talk cock at coffeshop about gals and cars with my Lingo programmer, Jason. Actually Jason talk most cock.

Busy versus Slack. Flying Dutchman and Porn-Joker.

Ok, I'm bored. I needed to do some work. I'm suffering what Sidik did for the last two days. Now let me type my Blogspot.

Now let me tell you about some of my closest colleagues here. There is Sidik, who my fellow intern working with me. Gariet, a former Singapore Polytechnic I knew from SPSU.
And two interns from Temasek Polytechnic, the problem is that I do not get their names. There's a guy named Leong and a girl named Fang. I always have problem remembering names of new acquaintance and may take up to a week or more to remember. Of course there are also other colleagues in the Digimagic Communications Pte Ltd, a multimedia production house. I may talk about them sometime later. See whether I remember their names for next three days.

Oh yah, just now Singapore's famous radio DJ, Flying Dutchman was here at our office's recording studio (and I just found out there's a recording studio) to record voice-over of a particular multimedia project. He's funny, even when he's recording, we heard him. we laughed, because he sounds like he's mating or something...

Ah... Currently, Sidik is doing some Macromedia Director files to alter them to be no interactivity and make it like a video movie. Gariet just finished his copy and pasting of JPEGs images onto PowerPoint, over 200 plus slides!

Now, it is about 1pm. we have the freedom to choose our lunchtime. Normally we would go out and eat at around 2pm and I hope there's work for me after that because they always give me work after my lunch. Strange. This is pretty bad because after slacking for so many hours then they call me to do work is like wasting my time in the morning.

Now let me introduce my colleague, Mr Jason, the Lingo programmer here. He's obvoiusly quite a porn-fan because he talk about it alot yesterday at lunch. But he's basically an interesting guy to be with, he tells alot of diry jokes.

Slack.

Nothing to do from 9am till now... All I did was walk around, sit down and surf the net.

Tuesday, July 15, 2003

Hopeful.

Off work time! 6pm! Slacking for some time now (again, like yesterday).

Yesterday was tiring, sleepy and boring. Today is boring, even though I have a few work to do. But it was little only.

Life at the office is some what easy because there is not enough workstations for everybody including me.

Hope tomorrow is more interesting.
