National Service Fulltime One Year Anniversary!

Just recently, I've became a so-called "one-year soldier". Which meant I've been conscripted for about 1 year already!

If I didn't remember correctly (yah, doing NSF may me lost track of some time actually), I was enlisted on 29th September 2004 into the military at Tekong's BMTC. And on this year's 29th September, I coincidentally went to Tekong for a overnight work there.

I initially believed this milestone certainly meant something.

But after thinking it for a while, I think it meant I still have another year of counting down to go...

(-_-)

Another year to bum around through my days of NSF in SSC!

Ha-ha-ha!

Duty Calls.

Today, Sunday. Hah. I'm finally able to login to blog with this weak surfing machine after a whole day time, after getting in here somehow.

Yes, I'm now in camp doing my regimented duty (meaning its mandatory work), as being the Contingent Orderly Sergeant (COS).

Actually, doing this COS duty on this Sunday isn't that bad. But the only real pity I was that I could go for my first potential experience of wakeboarding today under he invitation of Linda! Argh!!!

Too bad... I didn't get my boardshorts yet anyway.

My duty is also very simple. Just make sure what are things suppose to be there are there and wait for "potential" working calls (yah, on a Sunday). After my responsibilities are fulfilled, I can "own time, own target" do anything I want, especially when my supervising Duty Officer left after a short presence in the morning.

And what I do today after duty responsible done?

Well, I mainly cybered, watch a bit of TV (since there's not much good programmes of a Sunday), listen to the radio, take a short nap, eat, drink, bath and later, I'm going for a much earlier night's sleep than most days.

Sounds slack for a duty? Hey, its a Sunday you know!

:P

Home loneliness...

Anyway, this weekend is kinda boring for me. Nobody ask me out, neither did I ask any of my friends out before hand to do something good outside. There's currently not much good movies anticipated under my point of view until next weekend.

So what did I do this weekend.

As for yesterday I went out, alone. Yes, again, I went out alone into the deep forest of this urban jungle. To where? I headed for the LAN gaming cafe in Selegie and had a brain numbing gaming session of four hours. Before that, I had eaten dinner at McDonald's...

Why I did all this?

Only my sister and I were home for the day yesterday. She's always stay shut behind the door of her room, using the PC either for her work or play. So all I could do at home was basically watch that living room TV which is on the verge of expiring anytime, listen to some music and read some books.

But I still felt that utter loneliness at home...

That sense of family togetherness of love was missing...

So I rather be outside alone, which is far better than seeing such a nice big home with only me moving around...

I really envy those people who has the time to be with their family together, especially when they're not working on weekends. Thats really a true blessing. I appreciate that I have a full family, a father, a mother, and a sibling, but its seems to me something is amiss in my family...

If we have what we have, but we're together, what's the point? There's no meaning to it.

So, I'm always trying and trying and trying to find comfort with my friends...

But the sense of friendship can never replace that of kinship. They are still different. So, I'm already tired of that. I'm sick of it. So I'm actually kinda lost somewhat, sometimes...

Hope a miracle will happen bah.

I hope my relationship with my family will be better. Hope that time will come when both my parents retires and have more time for the family. But I also hope I wouldn't be indulging in my work too much after my NSF time...

Fun Dayz at Werkz.

This past week'z dayz. Well, this past week's working days have been really wonderfully slacking to everyone's liking at my sub-unit, especially when the only most physically "siong" IPPT trial and the test was stopped due to the heavy rains.

So what have I been doing these days?

I'm at play and having fun. As there's no work scheduled, I was always playing with my colleagues up in the bunk with the PS2 and simply chit-chatting enjoying other people at play, till the time we have our early end to our day of "work" everyday.

Last Thursday. We had a street soccer 4-a-side tournament mini league and did had some friendly matches for training before that tournament on last Thursday.

I wasn't that much competitive as all I wanted is to have some fun along with my fellow colleagues. I didn't play street soccer for about a year's time now, so playing the game again made me felt my skills were rusty and I'm not as young as I use to be.

On the Thurday day of the tournament, I was in one of the two teams in my platoon like the other two platoons, plus another team from my company headquarters. In the past and now, I usually played as the defensive striker, running about in the court like some heat-seeking missile in hot pursue on the ball. In the past, I was regarded as the "Duracel Bunny" that never runs out of energy and stamina.

But during the tournament day, I was eventually to become the goalkeeper. It was a decision by Patrick who was always playing soccer during his weekends. I respected his decision as he was a more experienced strategist at the game.

Though I didn't like being a goalkeeper because I hate being rammed by the ball especially in the face that cost me my spectacles in the past, I tried my best being the goalkeeper.

Both of my platoon's teams entered the semis but either failed to enter the finals. For my decisive game, my team was beaten 4-1. But my team and I tried our best.

My fellow platoonmates said I was a good goalkeeper, but I just replied with a humble of smile, cos' actually I didn't like being as a goalkeeper and I didn't manage to save the losing goals (I know it wasn't totally my fault that we lost the last game).

Yesterday, Friday evening. I went karaoke again, this time with my fellow colleagues at Bishan's Party World KTV branch. Patrick, Alfred, Aloysius, Winston and even my melaya officer Iskandar was there to join in the fun!

We really did have a fun time, especially discovering each other's talent to sing!

As for visting a Party World KTV for the first time, I was pretty surprised by its interior deco as it was looked very luxuriously decorated like some sort of grand, typical nightclub place I see in those Hong Kong movies in TV.

In my point of view, the place was too exaggeratedly and extravagantly decorated...

I still prefer the K-Box ambience even though K-Box has less desired KTV songs to be sung and its snacks were more expensive.

Gigs Monday!

Yesterday, Monday night! I went to enjoy some gigs yesterday night at Bar None at the Marriott invited by my cousin Vel.

But sadly, I was a bit kinda tired to enjoy the gigs properly as my eyes were closing.

Its even worse when I'm trying to figure some of their songs of what the lyrics was hala-ing about. But at least the beats, the keys, the thang and the teue was making my heart rhythym.

But overall I was enjoying the gigs played.

The allied jam kept me pretty much awake as I was fighting the zee monster. But I'm still a bit uncomfortable as I still didn't really know anyone else totally.

Hah... But I'm like that, always need time to adjust to very new friends. As I don't really speak well live and don't know how to start with what topics sometimes.

Anyway, I heard three bands playing but the last band that played which was Conclave Scream is the most banded in their music and slight more branded then others. It was less "nasty", like my former Aussie multimedia music lecturer would say I guess.

I didn't quite like the second band playing even though I admired their use of other musical instruments other than the typical band instruments. Its of especially one song that was kinda too relative typical melayu band play, which I'm sick of hearing at work already.

The first band playing was generally fine but the unity is just not there. Maybe because they had a new member playing lead guitar and still haven't tune into one band truely yet.

Hmm... I can afford to lsiten to listen as well as watch more gigs performances to expand my music knowledge other than the usual pop culture. Perhaps like that I could be more understanding to the evolving creativity of true music making.

MoMo Funz!

Yesterday, Saturday night. Well, I went clubbing yesterday night again. But this time it is at the Club MoMo which I once again, was gathering with a few of my BMT mates.

They are namely, Yanren, Chee Keong, Eddie (who is so deprive of life due to his commitment as a great Guardsmen with multiple weekend burns, this outing was a great relief for him) and last but not least, Weiwei and his girl friend, Yiting.

This clubbing outing was definitely a fun one! Love it!

Tiring Day!

Yesterday, Sunday! Yesterday was really a very, very tiring day cos' I'm like spendind the whole day withoput sleep!

I had to go for the Army Half-Marathon (AHM) convened at the Padang early in the morning! But I had hardly any quality sleep not up to two hours the night before!

Anyway, I didn't run 21km of half-marathon.

Posted by Picasa

My colleagues and I all ran only 6km!

: P

Totally no kick! No limit reached!

Running urban and across the Benjamin Sheares Bridge is indeed an experience (and there'll be another!) even though I've been to the bridge to many times on my own to enjoy the city skyline.

After the run, I went to have some breakfast and LAN gaming with my colleagues till early afternoon. Then, I headed back home for showers and a nap (which I failed to sleep anyway).

After that I went all the way back to town again!

This time, its at Clarke Quay meeting up with my favourite, former lecturer Mr Ahmad (or Ahmad I shall call him now if he insist on cutting that salutation) who is going to work abroad in Great Britain for one year along with his whole family.

He had called on us whom he said our batch of classes are the best bunch in his teaching days!

Aw... (But sadly, only 25% of that batch was there... A pity...)

Well, at least I managed to catch up with some of my ex-poly mateys!

; )

Hey... This was suppose to be a candid shot!

Ah ha! I took his picture first before he did!

The other feasters.

You think we're gonna let our favourite lecturer
pay for all for this big feast? Uh uh. I don't think so!
We left the money inside his son's bag!

Wrong focus: Ahmad's eldest son Adib, got his father's small eyes...
and got a overgrown 60's The Beatles' hairstyle?

The table and us! Yeah!

Ahmad's family (excluding the two on the most left):
Ahmad's eldest son, Ahmad himself, Ahmad youngest son (the cutie pie!)
and his wife.

Clubbin' as Usual!

Yesterday Friday night! Went clubbing, as usual. Nothing unusual happened so its usual! (Hee...) Went clubbing with Chee Keong and some of his OCS friends on some NUS medical bash.

Seen a lot of medical undergraduates along with all the babes and hunks. But the gender ration tells me only one thing... Guys still dominate the medical field! Cos' I see a whole bunch of guys on the at that "hill" on the centre of the dance floor!

Rooftop Barbeque!

Yesterday, Monday evening! A small celebration on the milestone of our work schedule, that all the boring and hard work is over! Now we're having our hard-earned one week off.

And what's better than having a barbeque? Especially a rooftop barbeque at one of my fellow colleague's urban condo?

A unique experience indeed...

After the BBQ, we caught up the movie, The Longest Yard, at the Plaza Singapura's Golden Village movie theatre!
