Hong Kong - Macau Trip 2008!

13th to 16th March I was away in Hong Kong and Macau for a family trip to visit my grant-aunt(s).

The trip was fun and there were a lot of dramas at there and even coming back to Singapore. Nether-the-less, it was unforgettable being with my family there; my parents, my cousins, my aunts and uncles.

The first day was a day of drama for my parents, aunts and uncles finally met my grandaunt from Hong Kong who's health was ailing. Not only that, we also met our two other grandaunts from Guangzhou, China, along with their sons and family.

Its just amazing how you roots goes. But I guess for my generation, its easy to forget such relations as we're just to distant.

Second day, we planned to vist Macau but it was full of dramas, Heading towards the ferry terminal was a challenge looking for it crossing a city park till we met a kind old man who's free enough to lead us to the terminal when we can take a ferry to Macau.

But we reached Macau facing the babaric Chinese nationals who just don't know how to queue up in an orderly manner, squeezing you like pancakes, cutting your queue as if you wouldn't dare to kill that uncivilised bugger.

Clear the Macau customs was such, and it wasted so much precious time. But still we manage to enter the Wynn's casino in Macau, one of the many chioces of casinoes you can choose to go. Vel and I chose to go sightseeing since we're too poor to gamble. And we managed to do that in an hour or so, making quick snaps along the way.

More drama going back to Hong Kong as Vel's dad went MISSING just becos' he's blue enough to take an earlier ferry ahead of us. Which made my kan-jiong aunt panicking as if my uncle is not going to survive or something.

We reached Hong Kong, all tired, but all were well enough to have a nice dinner at Temple Street near our hotel

The third day was the most fun for us the younger cousins. We shopped at the Women's Street, famous for street shopping for the cheapest stuff. And then we took a cab to The Peak where we all had fun at the Madame Tussad's Wax Museam making fun of the people we know of.

There, at the Victoria Peak, we enjoyed the sunsetting view in time and there we also had dinner, before checking the night view of Hong Kong from the tallest natural point.

Further into the night, we explored the Lam Guen Fang street famous the the nightlife but the nightlife was actually sparsely spread along the slopes of The Peak. In the end, we didn't club and we went back to our hotel with our feets tired.

The final day, we all went shopping together, whizzing here and there. In the end, Vel and I went on our own adventure, visiting the "atas" area when all the high-end shops are and visited The Avenue of Stars where the best of HK movies stars made their handprints. We also enjoy the best view of the Victoria Harbour with the HK city skyline behind it.

Heading back to Singapore, we reached the airport early but boarded the plane last minute as our boarding passses were seriously delayed due to over-booking. We ended up having late dinner in the plane. Even though the Cathay airline staff gave us foo vouchers while waiting for our boarding passes, we couldn't really used them as most of the food outlets were only vailable to us till we get into the boarding area where we needed our pass. Our side, they were only the restaurants where we had little time for.

We got onto our plane the final minute through the long transit journey of walking, train and walking... when my eldest aunt had problems walking..

Reaching Singapore, the final drama was that one of mum's luggage was missing and that it was left at the airport in Hong Kong. Thoguh I was tired, I wasn't surprised with the incident that Cathay had to offer. And I deal with it calmly. We got our luggage back, delivered to us anyway.

Overall, the trip was still a good one, in a family sense =)

Japanese Dinner @ Minori with the Foodies Club!

Its been a long time since I go out with the Foodies people. And finally I went for a dinner with them at the Japanese Minori restaurant at the UE Square Shopping Mall.

Its good to see the old friends and new friends of Foodies Club.

We had a buffet dinner and its what you order and what you get. Althopugh serving is small and the service is slow sometimes, but I guess its not too bad as for good food, we always have to wait.

The interesting thing is that there are like over 20 diners togther and we're sitting at a long table, whatever we ordered on one side of the long table, the serving will go to the other side. So in the end, Ros, the Ah Mah (Grandma) of the group ask for all food to be served on our side and we would QC (Quality Control) the food and test taste them first =P

Overall, we had fun eating and I really had lots of salmon sashimi, almost 20 pieces I guess. And of cos, I also had buckwheat cold noodle, grilled shimamo, grilled pork belly, unagi sushi and more..

So full that I could have fall asleep if I had a bed then =P

I'm Free Like A Bird!

See that fat bird there?

Yeh, I'm that fat bird. And I'm really getting fat from all the eating :p

This photo was taken after my last unofficial day at work, helping my ex-boss working for another week as I really think that the increased workload might be too taxing on the new designer who replaced me who's still learning.

But help is temporary. I still need to let go although I still feel responsible for my work. But I really hope for the best for everyone as everyone always need the chance to recover from mistakes, whatever it is. No one deserves over-punishing incidents when one has already so much to deal with in hand.

After, my last unofficial day at work, I went to find my old army buddy Alex tocatch up abit. Damn. We're gonna be stuck in the same unit again in reservist times. Looks like its fated. Lol.

We were suppose to play pool together after he knock off but instead we went LAN gaming other than KTV and clubbing which we don't want to do. Still, its great as its good to laugh together and have fun for all the lame reasons.

My Girl & I: At Sentosa Beach =)

Here she is: Her name is Wendy, that "mystery" girl I loved that I've been hiding from many for a period of time.

What for you might ask?

To protect a growing seedling of love that's fragile in the wretched winds of ill-influences. Now that the seedling has become a stronger plant, we both decided to throw ourselves in the sunshine.

Now we're happy enjoying our times together, buidling our lives together.

And so, I've been busy dating.

Lately, we went Sentosa to have fun and relax. We had a great time. We had the whole day for ourselves and enjoyed nice food. and best of all, to my awe, my dearie bought a great gift of love for me which I really like =D

And we also watch a movie, "The Leap Years" (a bit of spoiler ahead!).

"The Leap Years" is a local production of romance and drama acted mainly by Wong Li Lin, Ananda Everingham, Joan Chen and Qi Yu Wu.

It has a nice romantic story of a girl waiting for that special someone to be together forever. She waited every four years, of every leap year for that stranger in which in her mind she needed to fall in love with. Leaping years of wait went by, testing her patience which almost seems to falter and yet in the end, she chosen to wait for that one ever lasting love that she couldn't get out of her head.

Cousin Michelle once quoted a phrase from the Bible, about patience.

Maybe sometimes, its not only about waiting for the right person, its also about waiting for the right moment, to do things right. Its not only about waiting for things to fall into place, but its also about taking that chance going into the unknown future of a relationship.

But I think, never wait for a person who do not reciprocate her or her feelings of mutual respect and love for you.

Note that reciprocating feelings is not necessary equal but mutual, which requires sacrifice, and sacrifice is something of no expected returns. It is only this that is what made love priceless and eternal. Because what you give, is never expected to come back.

That's why love is always "give and take", never "give and return". That's why two parties always have to give and give and give, which require that forever effort to do so. And that is what make "love is forever" =)

"Love is 99%, Effort is only 1%." and yet many people did not bother to put in that 1% because they think it doesn't make a difference, but it really do make all the difference to make lives fully 100%.
