Mixed Feelings!

Hey! I got a sudden early release from camp. Not too bad for a half-day's time of parade at another camp which was tiring due the the heat...

XP

Had fun playing with the two mongrel labrador mixed puppies before I head off to another for the SAF Re-Dedication Parade in Pasir Laba Camp.

The puppies are very cute and fun to play with! (^o^)

Haiz... I wonder when I'll get a dog of my own.

Anyway, though having a early day off from work and had my creature comforts,

I'm still having a slight bout of sadness and anxiety for no good reason.

Perhaps its my PMT (male's version of PMS)...

Feel a bit lost. Nobody's entertaining me.

The angel broke his wings again? Most probably due to an old wound.

Damn it. I wonder what's wrong with me...

I'm suppose to be happy going for my wakeboarding tomorrow.

Argh... Whatever...

Another Misadventure?

Weather has been really hot this days.

But nether-the-less, I met up with my old poly friend, Shian, the man.

The dude whom I shared the worst scenarios, lame times, adventures + misadventures and ideologies during poly days.

Went to have lunch with him at Orchard's NYDC and catch up with our currencies in the NSF life as well as reminiscing the past poly days.

Had a nice meal of 3 Amigos set lunch.

The over-baked rice was definitely more filling and best for price than that of Pasta Mania I had a few weeks ago (worst I ordered baked rice and they gave me baked linguine!).

After the lunch, we're still pondering where to go.

I had watch the telly and watched about privtae toy museam in Singapore.

But having no idea where it is, the only information source I know was to the Singapore Visitor Centre nearby.

There and after, it was simply getting the info from the nice customer service lady at the centre.

Surprisingly, I got two addresses for two toy museams.

And so we decided to go to the nearest, which is near Raffles Hotel at Seah Street.

And the museam was called Mint, at 26 Seah Street.

The museam place certainly looks cool from its deco.

It is a 5-storey typical old shophouse building, with 4 floors for its galleries, a smalle cafe at the basement, and a gift shop at the first floor, which was under construction.

Surely, Mint is a very nice place to look at all the nostalgic toys.

There's Batman toys, dolls, teddies, Mickeys and Donalds, Beatles toys and many more!

Reading on the advertising lines on the toy boxes are the best, funny lines.

But sadly, since its a private museam, the entry fee is relatively expensive from the point of view of any local, charging at S$10.

Yes, the collection of toys are nice. But some are repeative collections, which is basically the same.

There's no struck of awe. The display shelves are very tall, not very good to see with my kind of height.

These toys need to be looked with details...

The most disappointing thing for me is the info board saying there's Ultraman toys.

I love Ultraman and was wondering what collections were there... But sadly, there's only a couple of items... Felt a bit cheated.

And the total time spent in the museam? 35 minutes, without the guide.

I suppose we could have dragged the time better with the guide instead our own.

Mint is recommended for those people who really love damn nostalgic old toys, but not recommended for common curious people.

I am Rudolf, the Summer Reindeer.

Nothing special happened on today's Monday.

Had no Monday blues today and was actually quite hyper to prepare for the day's work. I even prepared my reading book, discman with Electrico's "Hip City", scrappy and art pen...

...but range work was suddenly cancelled for my platoon, so I slacked the whole day in camp.

I didn't nuah the whole day too. Did a bit of hands-on illustrations on my scrappy on the free-time.

I'm having running nose due to my over-allergic olfactory organ

It was caused by my fellow specialists' extreme dusty and dirty bunk. Think they should clean it soon. But I doubt they'll bother to cos' they're ORDying already.

Now my nose is red like the Christmas creature they named Rudolf.

V----V
( ' o ' )

But I think gotta eat my dinner and sleep liao. I'm pretty tired. Went to sleep late yesterday...

Lost on Sunday...

Still affected by yesterday's lousiness of sianness, I decided to take a walk in town to make it up somehow...

The walk was not to bad. Took a few photos of the town buzz for my works.

I also did a bit of window shopping.

Really soothes my lousy mood slightly better.

Got a new music album by Electrico, "Hip City" from HMV.

The songs kinda depict my whole situation of my life at this moment...

Surprisingly, I'm also trying to get into the hip of this city.

Went to chill and drink at my usual haunt at the Coffee Bean again, reading my "Marley & Me", while listening to the new album.

After that, I went to walk around and take a look around in town again.

Spotted Zane and waved "Hi".

But today, though feeling better, I still feel a bit lost...

Hope my mood get better.

A Lousy Past.

I'm not going to tell you what a lousy Saturday yesterday had been.

It just sux.

Disappointments after disappointments of things I cannot control. Although I could get use to this, I think enough is enough, so I shall just put it behind me and simply move on...

Its hard to swallow disappointments... But I still gotta drink and eat.

And so, I'm having a bit of sore throat after yesterday.

Busily Tiring.

Tiring is the progressing result of my recent days of hard work on my designing stuff on my off days and free time, and army's mundane work when I retrun back to camp after I took my off.

Both works sort of making me mentally tired. Imagine switching between thinking nothing and then think and imagine more again.

Still I went MoS on Wednesday just becos' I want to kaypo and go check out Thomas's new girlfriend.

But the real truth is that I want to drink and chill a bit bah.

The day after the night I went MoS, yesterday, I was doing sentry duty again at the Singapore's mozzie land.

Sianz. That's what my men, fellow specialists and I felt.

I was half-sleeping, half doing my observation post on passing vessels in Johor Straits.

While I was bored and was unable to sleep (my bio-clock screwed up)and when there isn't any passing boats, I just use my bino to observe the birds of different variety around me.

Great nature.

But after that, I went to ZZZ again...

The moment I reached home, I just do all my stuff I needed to do and just dive into my bed...

Its a Beautiful Day...!

The wonderful morning scenery from my room; the largest rainbow in the world stretched from one end of the horizon the the other. : )

And yes, today is certainly a beautiful day to start.

I just came back from my morning jog and had my showers.

Planning to stay indoors today all the way to focus on my iPOD nano design competition project.

So I hope no one will tempt me to go out :P

But as with all beauty, there is always an imperfection you must understand and admire...

...there is a flaw today.

Or should I say tomorrow?

I received news early in the morning that I'm chosen to go Pasir Laba live firing area to do sentry work again?

How "wonderful" can that be?

Haiz. Whatever. I should just pray for the better.

: )

Freed.

God has been recently very nice to me.

Every since my last week's off-days' free time were taken away from me suddenly in order for me to help others, this week I seem to be having plenty of off-days or free-time.

Yesterday was an off-day, no odubt about it.

But today I was released early, and now I'm at home.

Tomorrow, I have applied another off-day successfully without any nagging from my platoon officer.

Thank you, My Lord.

Now, I'm going to spend this free-time wisely...

Now I'm off to take some urban scene pictures in town...!

(Hope it doesn't rain though... Weather looks damn greyishly bad...)

I'm going to strive for something...

; )

Snapping Spree for Design!

The first step to any challenge is often the most difficult...

Before the few final hours of the last light of yester day died down, I went for a snapping spree of pictures of the city's liveliness.

I took about 2 to 3 hours of brisk walking all the way from Orchard to City Hall Padang to shoot what this island has to offer me.

Taken a total of 56 pictures, they contain people and building of all sorts, skateboarding at the Somerset's park, historic church towers and museam dome, to hip-hop dancers of the Esplande underpass.

Truly a great feat for the pain of my feet. *Ache*

Took MRT (didn't walk le) back to Orchard to enjoy my Mocha Ice Blended & a slice of CHocolate of A Thousand Leaves...

But still, after all the work done.

Its still a piece of cake... for dinner : P

zZzZzZ Lazy Sunday ZzZzZz

Cute eh? The panda obviously indicate I'm lacking in sleep ; )

I'm still feeling like a lazy panda, still not having enough sleep.

Last weekdays' sleep last 5 to 7 hours.

I slept for 12 hours to last Saturday's morning but I'm still yawning my mouth off like a lazy lion.

Last night I also slept for only 7 hours, waking up early for no good reason.

So I went for an afternoon nap again just now.

Think my sleeping bio-clock is a bit screwy.

Lucky tomorrow is an off-day for me to adjust to normalcy.

Singing Practice~!

I feel the urge to have some singing practices last night, on some particular song.

Well, not like I'm not singing everyday already... singing while I'm walking somewhere when there's no one..., singing in the lift... and singing at home, especially singing in the bathroom (lifts and bathroom have the best surround sound).

: )

Oh... And what's that song that I'm going practice?

Its "Superwoman" by 曹格.

Its a nice and popular mandarin song that already been out for quite some time. Heard it some times, but never got the chance to have that song piece record for me to hear and to practice at home.

Its a song I failed to sing twice at KTVs...

So now, I'm determine to learn and sing this song.

And I'm so ready to practice this song, cos' many of my friends say this is very difficult to sing.

Ha! I laugh in the face of difficulty! Especially in singing...

: P

Superwoman
by 曹格

Early in the morning, I put breakfast at your table

You were my superwoman
安静的在身边 无条件给我 梦寐以求的温柔
But I am only human
我怎么不懂你多寂寞 残忍的犯了错
不能失去你 Ooh—Babe---

You fought your way through the rush hour
Try to make it home just for me

If you feel it in your heart and you understand me.
STOP right where you are, everybody sing along with me.

Operation Dust Storm!

Hey! I'm back from my duty from the sentry duties in the outfields of Pasir Laba.

It wasn't boring as I would expect it to be like my last duty posting to the same place.

Instead of being one of sentry personnel waiting for hours in position, I was appointed by the warrant officer to take care of my men instead. Which was better for my ego as a junior section commander, a sergeant (applies to all specialists like me also).

I was just sitting in the rover vehicle taking long rides with the officer manning the signal set all morning, deplying my men onto correct scenic positions...

... and the rest of the time was taking ride with my driver from the camp I'm attached duty to delivering meals, and welfare snacks and soft drinks I've bought for them.

I also managed to catch some sleep in the late afternoon back at the camp's bunk with the driver, who told me about his miserable NSF lifestyle at the Pasir Laba Camp.

But I simply advise him to complain to his higher superiors about his unfair treatment regarding his workload and his immediate superior's language used on him.

The evening was the best.

I went to stay at one of the position with my men and the driver to enjoy the sunset where the last light glimmers on the side waters of the sea and the reservoir when we were all on the dyke in-between.

Mozzies were bugging us, but the view of the Tuas 2nd Link Bridge lighted acroos the sea between Malaysia and Singapore in the night kept me accompanied for a while. And so does the nice breeze, the clear skies for all of the universe's stars and constellations.

The last few hours before the end of our duties were most unbearable, especially after when the driver started his lamenting which he almost did every now and then for the whole day...

The best news was of course, hearing the good news that we could go back to camp and book-out!

Shopping Sins...

Ah... Today's another supposedly "empty" day. Was supposed to slack in camp but had enough of spending time in camp doing nothing that totally not interest me and is killing my brain with the stagnantation, so I took a half-day off.

Luckily I did.

Marcus was updating me to continue to edit some graphics of that late job notice he got me.

At least there's some much more satisfying work to do.

Better still, I can play my strategy game at home which I'm losing the campaign...

XP

~

Shopping was the last thing on my mind yesterday. Went to chill and window shop at Borders @ Orchard.

Monday's off became some sort of a working day for me outside which wasn't part of my whole resting plan for the coming Friday's crazy sentry duty of fighting the ultimate boredom accompanied by damned Pasir Laba mozzies.

At Borders, I got the latest IdN mag which I didn't bought for quite some time. Its a good mag, but I always think its ex.

But why I bought it?

I seem to be preparing for some design battle lately...

What design competition campiagn will I go for? Hmmm...

I'm still thinking. There's a lot that I can challenge myself this month.

Anyway after looking at all the tons of books at Borders, I went to chill and read my book of "Marley & Me" at the Coffee Bean, that followed by an order of Belgian Choc Ice Blended.

After about a couple of hours, I'm still not satisfied with my chill.

I decided to go to the nearby That CD shop to look for any nice CD albums.

And after half an hour of listening to all sort of genres sampling, I got two albums, MASSIVE R&B Volume I and II. Familiar fav R&B music from ChinaBlack, Club MoMo and MoS!

There and after I went for more window shopping at the various branded boutiques in the Pacific Plaza.

I went to the Gallery to see if there's any changes.

But I found a treasure, a cute pair of shoes.

Hello, "Marv"...

And I called it the "Sin City" shoes, basically becos' it contain the comic colour theme of red, balck and white. The extra brown is just another additional excuse to buy it even more.

It was on sale for $85, a bargain for its kind.

Its original name is nameded Mavrk.

But I simply just called him Marv.

Handsome isn't he?

:P

Fiction@Love 虚拟的爱 @ SAM

Art is a mess. That's what I always think of art.

Art is most probably an unplanned expression.

Went to SAM (Sinagpore Arts Museam) for the Fiction@Love exhibition, and I was going to get application form for the 1000 Trexi toy design thingy today but the submission for the competition was on Friday.

Quite a disappointment... Could have get a free Trexi toy.

But anyway, I wanted to gain some experience at various different design competitions.

But nether-the-less, I still can enter another competition started by SAM, its a three-strip comic storyboarding contest held for Fiction@Love.

The sad thing is that, they ran out of the story boarding comic strip template-cum-application form.

But I pick up a used one from a trash can.

Think I'll submit my strip tomorrow.

~

Doorway to Fiction@Love 虚拟的爱 exhibition gallery. Too bad no photography in the gallery. Must really go in and exprience it yourself : )

Anyway, about the exhibition, it is pretty much self explained by its title isn't it?

Fiction is is the use of tools of the current pop culture from comics, cartoon and elements of multimedia like 3D/2D animations, digital film productions and other computer designed graphic works.

And the exhibition is about love of all things in contemporary art.

My favourite is one of the most simplest exhibit called "God's Love II", in which the artist simply puts a lighting of flashing neon in a dark room which is of the the shape of a heart.

You'll really felt loved somehow : )

Another exhibit I like is one that display of hanging upside down pregnant dolls.

I do not know why they're hanign upside down, but all I know is mums are the greatest people who love and be loved.

Maybe its becos' a woman's like is totally changed when they have a child.

Hanging upside down pregnant dolls (to the most right pillar).

Mr. Right + Miss. Right

Extremely good love knowledge advice here meant for everyone.

: )

Of Textures & Specularities.

Watched the new 3D animation movie by Pixar Animation yesterday with Thomas and friends.

The lighting and reflections on the textures and specularities are done so well, I don't even know its whether the real car pain is real or the ones in the movie is real.

3D illusion effect syndrome!

Will like to watch it one more time!

Inspiration Sourcing.

Went to the Esplanades Theatres after I visited Zuo Qi yesterday seeing her for only a mere few tenths of minutes.

After the visit, I went straight the the Esplanades Theatres walking down the beautiful Singapore River which is full of life with boats and people of friends and families.

Painted walls behind me heading to wards Jendela, the Visual Art space.

The Esplanade Theatres is one of my favourite haunts of to inspiration sourcing from amazingly different kinds of works from scupltures, still arts and many more.

The theme of the theatres for this month was "Hybrid Composites", which I favoured. It actually depict some sort of multimedia art. From graphic design layered to flat computer painted illustratrations.

Its certainly enjoyable to be there just to see everything that surrounds me : )

~ Teddyorist!

I headed to the Esplanade mall to look for some gifts for the coming Fathers' Day, my mum and sister birthdays which are in July.

I headed to one of my fav shop there, Cool Bear Workshop.

Obviously the shop is about bears, teddy bears. Its a place where you can make teddies for yourself or for others.

Not to mention, you can make a teddy, with a heart stuff inside, teddy grooming, shop for their clothes and even make them a birth certificate with all the weight and statistics!

But I'm not sure whether I'm going to be plain lazy by making them a whole family of teddies as gifts for my family?

Haha... I haven't decide yet whether to do this crazy idea.

But I was so tired after enjoying all that and looking at all that XP

Rooftop terrace: my fav place to watch the bay's sceneries.

The circular space and...

...the circular illusioned space (painted on the floor at spot).

3D primitives! Of cones and spheres.

As usual, always taken on my shots, the main Singapore skyline and...

the sidelined skyline.

Ah... Choo!!!

Working life has been really peaceful these days. No bullshit or whaever.

I am enjoying it.

I wasn't doing anything in camp today except sleeping, eat, reading newspapers and my books.

But cold drizzles made me caught a cold yet again today...

Rain sux.

I don't want to be in a melancholic weather either...

My "Glass Slippers" : )

Yes, I finally found a dark-coloured shoe that I like.

I was window shopping with my cousin Vel (yes... window shopping again) on last Sunday when I came across a pair of Nike SB classic taupe (coffee brown)- black suedes at Left Foot boutique.

But yet again... to my disappointment, the shoes doesn't have my size...

So on that very night, I planned a mission with great consultancy from shoe nuts June, I was set to hunt that shoes down.

On the very next day, Monday, after work, I went straight to the Gallery boutique to find that pair, but the taupe-black suedes was sold out...

All they had was a same Nike SB classic air, but in iron grey-black colour style. Though I also like it cos' its really comfy and easy to manouvre my quick feet, but I really prefer the taue-black suedes instead.

Anway, the iron grey-black is also left with the one last stock of my shoe size...

Nether-the-less, with great intel from shoe whiz June, I went all over town to various unique shoes boutiques... but I never found the mysterious taupe-black suedes.

So in the end, I went back to the Gallery at Pacific Plaza at Scotts Road to get the grey iron-black Nike SB classic air suedes instead.

I was relunctant to get the grey suedes because I already have a Nike Star white casual and a Nike black training shoes...

It'll make my shoe collections like "greyscale"...

I wanted more colour variety.

Whatever.

I like this pair anyway : )

Colourful.

Colourful days, that's what I can say about these few days.

Anyway, I've been busy in both work and leisure. It certainly feels great being balanced.

:)

Had an off-day break on last Wednesday from the constant range work in the army.

Was suppose to meet my "young-punk" officers to recce or scout the Orchard area for some unit treasure hunt game.

But I was disallow to join them becos' I'm going to play it.

I was thinking, "Oh come on... Its Orchard! Its town! I'm an urban walker and explorer! I don't need to cheat or what...!"

But anyway, they were doing the job in the morning, so I couldn't go anyway.

Instead I spent the morning doing some workout and dancing. Was suppose to wake up earlier for a "warm and nice" morning sunshine to go jogging instead, but I was lazing around in my bed when my alarms sounded :P

I still had to go to town anyway.

I went to the bank in Takashimaya, to get my POSB GO ATM-debit card. It'll be useful when I go overseas as well as if I wanna do shopping online in the near future.

After that I went to Bugis to have some afternoon tea, while checking out how are they, as well as taking chance to "look-out" for jobs available in their company or other places.

No good news though.

After that I went for some quick window shopping at PARCO Bugis Junction, when I spot a nice black formal shirt at a shop called Natural Project. It is suitable for work as well as clubbing.

The shirt is just damn nice and I really like it.

So my will to not to splurge broke...

No regrets : )

After that, I went back to Orchard to meet up with June for a discussion on some namecard design project during the evening.

At that meantime, while waiting for her arrival, I had a great chill reading my "The Lost Gospel" and having a chilled Ice Latte with cream at Coffee Bean.

Took a few pictures of the busy traffice junction at the heart of Orchard, right before June popped out at my sight.

Anyway, it was great chilling, talking business and chit-chatting at that place.

What a fine way to enjoy the day.

"Wild"life in the City

Its funny to see a guy were feeding an "urban chicken" (pigeon) with some muffin crumbs at the cafe then.

Reminded me the day when I was in poly, also at Orchard, when I saw a stupid pigeon that was pecking on a muffin cap when it flipped over and blinding itself, and it was so funny to see the pigeon panicked on its quick pace. Lol.

But this particular pigeon I observed was much more clever.

The man was throwing the crumbs behind while he was sitting down.

The bird was hungry, but it also feared the man's hand. But it cleverly picked the largest piece of muffin crumb to a safe spot first. Then it pecked at the smaller ones first before eating the largest at the safespot.

Clever indeed.
